TAMASHA

"TAMASHA" is the title itself suggests the central idea of the movie, the beginning of the film shows concept of subplot or we can say that the beginning of movie is itself mentions the Title of the movie. Hindi meaning of Tamasha वह दृश्य जिसके देखने से मनोरंजन हो. The story is about two major characters Ved and Tara.

Tamasha movie tells the story of an individual person who loses his self by living according to the social role expected of him. Ved (Ranbir Kapoor) is in Corsica on a holiday. He meets a cheerful girl named 'Tara' played by Deepika Padukone. The chemistry between Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone is good to watch and should not be missed. Both the actors have done justice and respective roles.

The film’s title too has a suggested of William Shakespearean vocabulary to it. That "All the world’s a stage and all the men and women merely players." Tamasha " Indian romantic drama" is a film written and directed by Imtiaz Ali. Imtiaz Ali's most of the film about LOVE, and Journey of LIFE. For example his movie "Highway". Same in "Tamasha" ved who discovered his identity of LIFE. The cinematography of Tamasha is fantastic and the best spots of Corsica.

Tamasha is The movie says, we are all unique if we do what we love. The movie is a one-time watch, you will love it if you are a Ranbir-Deepika 's fan.

Northrop Frye: The Archetypes of Literature

The term Archetypes signifies narrative designs, symbols, character, dreams, collective images, myths etc. are in literature. Simply we can say that archetypal it means represented things. For example Paradise Lost in which Apple is a symbol of knowledge. The Archetypal critics find out the symbols and archetypal images which recurrently happen in the literature.

As far as Physics and Nature is concerned hence Frye wants to make endeavor of difference between physics and nature in addition to he adds that an individual can’t have the whole concepts through learning physics while on the other hand he also says that through criticism one cannot accept that he/she does possess all things about criticism.

Here Frye says that criticism can be an organized body of knowledge and he also connects with history and philosophy to convey his ideas so he states that history deals with the action and events while on the other side philosophy deals with the meanings. Therefore literature includes history and philosophy.

The Inductive method of analysis deals with particular to general. So here it    can be applied in Hamlet because if we see it from Micro level then the grave digging scene is observed but if we observe from general view then we can see Hamlet’s love for Ophelia.

The deductive method of analysis deals with the established meaning of work from the general truth to particular truth. So to explain deductive method of analysis here Frye illustrates Music and Painting and furthermore he also conveys that Music and Painting are general branch of literature while Rhythm is essential in both so,

Waiting for Godot

In the play Waiting for Godot scene is a 'country road, a tree and evening'. It is symbolical one. Barren tree symbolizes negative things and it shows death also. These paintings symbolize longing. The painting does not show the clear idea of of waiting in the same way play does not have appropriate end.

 

Tree is connected with the religion, In Hindu religion also many trees are polite but these are hidden symbols. In the play waiting for Godot we can see that in first act the tree was looking barren because we could not find any leaves into the tree it was important symbol into the play because it shows death. While in second act we can see four- five leaves on the barren tree so we can see some long time passed as it is so it reflects nothingness.

 

In both Acts, evening falls into night and moon rises. It is also connected with human life. In that act we have some desire and despair for that we are living. Night indicates darkness in life but at the back side the darkness there is light also. By hook or by crook night is connected to Death.

Yes, the play “Waiting for Godot” is an absurd drama the chief concept is nothingness. The debris director wants to shows the fragmentations of life and nothingness of life. So we can say it is appropriate in the play.

Nothingness in the play: 

• Reflects less action

• Important but uncertain 

• Hopeless destiny of human race. 

We can say that nothing special happens in neither the play nor we observe any significant change in setting. Though a change occurs but it is only that now the tree has sprouted out four or five leaves. "Nothing happens, nobody comes ... nobody goes, it's awful!" The beginning, middle and end of the play do not rise up to the level of a good play, so absurd. Vladimir and Estragon both are doing nothing as such which is important in life. Nothingness is a center idea or theme of the play.

Yas, I am agree with this point 'Waiting for Godot' is positive play not pessimistic. Because we are waiting for something and think that some will come and solve our problems but finally no one comes, we can see in the play meaningless, nothingness, rubbish, waiting as theme or center in play. But nothingness and waiting itself is something does that it is positives thought effects and universe ideas in the play. 

In the play props like hat and boot also symbolizes something in the play. While in first we see Hat and Boots use as props in the play. Both props are means for their time pass. They changing hat passing their boring time. But in deeper connotation Boots is a symbol of lower order of thinking or related with body only and Hat it symbolize higher  thinking and mind  that Vladimir is doing. 

Yes, it is seems that the obedience of Lucky is extremely irritating and nauseatic. Writer ascribes the slavery of Lucky to his Master. We see that our mind and human personality has rich people and god treated to this kind.

According to my point of view GODot is an object of GOD. Vladimir and Estragon waiting for Godot or God. Both characters are think that godot will come and solve problems of their life, we can also says Waiting also.

Yes, I agree with that the subject of the play is not Godot but ‘Waiting’ Both the characters Vladimir and Estragon are WAITING for MR. GODOT. According to my point of view waiting for death. Both are waiting for death came and both meet to god in heaven.

The play ‘Waiting for Godot’ is better to  read and visual also because in read  the simple dialogue and language is too short and but it require a lot of time to think. But at the reading time we cannot see perfect background. So both audio and visual help in better understanding of play.

In the play I most like Pozzo-Lucky episode in both acts.

Yes, while watching I can see Existence in the play. It means man is nothing else but that which he makes of himself. Existence in the end of the play because in the end no one can come so it is better to be existence rather than waiting for someone.

Yes, in the play we can see existential of human existence in the irrational and indifference when Vladimir and Estragon are doing meaningless actions to pass time. And at the end of this play when both are tired of Waiting for Mr.Godot and they are planning to suicide.

Yes, the characters of Pozzo and Lucky it was related with master and slave relations. Buckett was a disciple of Joyce and that Joyce hated England. England had power and how it was using it represented by Pozzo.

T. S. Eliot: Tradition and Individual Talent

Yes I am agree with the   Eliot’s  idea on Tradition in which  he  points out tradition that tradition is matter of much wider significance it can not be inherited and if u want it u must obtained it by great labor. it involves the historical sense.

1) by this quotation Eliot wants to convey the idea that historical sense deals with the pastness of past and present too.

2) when now  any literary artist who write  any literary things that is literature, and from the time of Homer that is also literature as well as history.  

Tradition that is continue form the History when  one who write literary things that he /she may in flow of Tradition and become the part of Tradition . on the other hand individual talent is also important bcs in which there is creativity of poets mind in the literary writings.

With the help of this quotation the idea comes out that developing the consciousness of the past, and writer required the sense that as  Shakespeare  had . Shakespeare acquire more essential history from the Plutarch.

Here  with the understanding of this thing it is clear that there is much important of poetry rather than poet. Here what poet is create through his mind as well as his creativity. He sacrifice the things , he may not present in his work and as a result his work may comes with great output.

The theory of depersonalization is shows that it is more  important, not only emotions and feelings but the artistic process. Its also presents that element of science into Humanity and art. Wordsworth's Preface to Lyrical Ballads

The different between Classicism and Romanticism. It is principles and it’s about techniques of writing. Classicism means every things bounded by the rules and regulation. In the Age Romanticism certain things, it is full of thought, imagination, freedom of and expression, freedom of their subject, in romanticism   poet were free from to write upon any subject like nature and free writing for any subject of life.

Wordsworth here says that what is poet? Rather than who is poet? According to Him poet should be man speaking to a man, with feeling and more interest. He said that poet has knowledge of human and more full sold. Means poet who write their originality free to any subject like nature and rural life.

Poetic diction means to the language style, the vocabulary, and the symbols used in the writing of poetry. Wordsworth gives rustic symbols to the poetic diction. And new trend of writing poetry and there is new things that Romantic poets use. Poet should give the colour of imagination in the language of poetry. The language of poetry is also feelings and emotion.

Poetry means rhythmical form of words which express an imaginative, emotional, intellectual experience of the writer’s mind.

According William Wordsworth that wandering like a cloud floating above hills and valleys. He describes the beauty of Nature and specially the beauty of Daffodils in his poem. This is the power nature.

'Hamlet' Movie Screening

I really enjoyed the movie ‘Hamlet ‘by Kenneth Branagh. While watching we could enjoy more rather than just reading the play.

• Yes, of course it is faithful to the original play ‘Hamlet’. Like characters and dialogues is same one. And Shakespearean is well known for his soliloquies in the play and these soliloquies are well-visualized by Kenneth Branagh. 

• After watching movie I changed my perspective about the character of Hamlet. In the play we do not see the madness of Hamlet but in a movie we can see very well. And can observe two characters Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are not shown mad in the play or they are not given more importance in the play but when an individual can observe it when he/she watches the movie so we may say that after watching the movie I could change the perspective of the characters.

• When we watch movie we get aesthetic delight. In grave diggers scene conversation of two grave diggers. And some time when Hamlet in madness He makes mockery with Polonius.

• Yes, I feel catharsis when Ophelia cry on death of her father and she behaves like mad. And also Ophelia’s death the tragic end of her.

• The screening of the play really helped me to understand the play in a better way because sometimes it may be possible that while reading the original play we may not be able to understand or grasp the meaning what the writer as well as dramatist wants to convey but when we visualize the play at that time we may come across so many things which we missed during the reading of the original play that’s why I can say that when I watched the movie I could understand well rather than just reading the play.

• The scene which I can cherish lifetime that is nunnery scene which was well directed by the director in the movie.so this scene which I like to cherish and it is also famous one.

• If I would be a director then I would change many things from this movie like significance of female characters in the play especially Ophelia who is the heroine of the play she is not given more importance in the play while Hamlet is given an inevitable role to play because he has power so if I would be the director then I would also change the role of Claudius because when Claudius prays to God at that time Hamlet delays to kill him even he thinks that if he would kill Claudius then his soul would go in heaven therefore if I would be the director then I never allow Claudius to be alive.

• I could find the symbolism in the play when the statue of Hamlet’s father is shown at that time it symbolizes the fear or darkness in the mind of Hamlet.

• The only approach, which can be applicable to the play is moral and philosophical approach because ‘Hamlet’ possesses so many things which we can relate with moral as well as philosophical aspects and this play can also be studied on this approach and separate study can be done because this play occupies these kinds of deep-layered elements.

• Before watching movie I felt that Mythological and Archetypal approach would fit here because the Greek tragedies, the story of Hamlet was not the playwright’s invention but was drawn legend. And in play The Ghost scene it shows the Myth of literature.

Structuralism and Literary Criticism: Gerard Genette

         

       My general view on Structuralism, that it is form of criticism which sought to understand a work of art in the context of structure which have genre, culture and language. It can be related it with text and make study of text. System of recurrent patterns or motifs. Studied the original structure. Gerard Genette was French literary Theorist. In his essay he discusses five aspects of Narratology, that are like Order, Frequency, Duration, Voice, and Mood. Frist is Order as story as follows, a murder occurs, Circumstances or we can say that situation of character, Murderer is revealed to a detective and Murderer is caught at the end of story. For example movie “36 China Town”, and TV serial “CID”. Duration means Separations between an event and its narration. For example, Raj Kumar Hirani’s movie “3 Idiots” in it Farhan who narrates the story. Voice is concerned with two questions, who narrates? And from Where? In itsIntra-diegetic, it means a narrator inside the text.For example movie Chocolate and Musafar. And Hetero-diegetic in the narrator is not a character in the story, for example. Mahabharata in Samay.

              So at last we may say that being a Structuralist critic an individual can analyze literary texts or T.V serials.
